The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
