The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
