The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
