Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
