The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
