The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
