He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
