The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
