The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
