The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
