The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
