Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
