Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
