Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
