Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
