The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
