The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
