Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
