The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
