The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
