And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
