S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
