The Poets (Alshu'araa')
227 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Seen-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 These are the verses of the illustrious Book. 2 (O Muhammad), you will perhaps grieve yourself to death because these people do not believe. 3 If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their necks should stoop to it. 4 Whenever a new message comes to them from the Beneficent God, they turn away from it. 5 For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule. 6 Do they not look at the earth, how We caused a variety of fine vegetation to grow from it (in abundance)? 7 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 8 And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 9
