۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
