The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment spread open 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the lofty roof. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
