Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
