Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the break of Day 1 and the ten nights, 2 And by oath of the even and the odd. 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 and spread much corruption in the land. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 into My Paradise. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
