The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 weigh with an even balance 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
