The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
