In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 stay away from sins 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
