The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
