Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Who do not give a due share of their wealth for the welfare of others, and do not believe in the Hereafter. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
