The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
