The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
