The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
