The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every slanderer, defamer, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 thinking that his wealth will make him live forever! 3 By no means! They will be thrown into hutamah. 4 And what will make you know what the crushing Fire is? 5 The Fire of God kindled 6 which shall oversee the hearts, 7 closed around them 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
