The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
