The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
