The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
