He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
