And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
