AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
