And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
