Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
