Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
