The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By heaven and the night-star! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
