And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
