The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
