The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? 6 The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
