Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
